APoGI stands for the Accessible Publishing of Genetic Information.
The development of the resource has been funded since March 1997 by grants from the Wellcome Trust to Professors Bernadette Modell and David Ingram to investigate the viability informatics approaches to providing genetic information both to health workers and to affected individuals.
APoGI is a product of the Clinical & Applied Bioinformatics Unit, a collaboration between the Community Genetics Programme in the Department of Primary Care and Population Sciences, Royal Free and University College London Schools of Medicine and the Health Informatics Group of the Centre for Health Informatics and Multiprofessional Education (CHIME), University College London. APoGI also enjoys the support of a network of collaborators, both in the UK and abroad.
